SUMMARY:Superconductivity in flat bands
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nGeorge Batrouni\nUniversity of Côte d’Azur and Centre for Quantum Technologies\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI will first discuss what flat band systems are, why they are the focus of so much interest and activity, demonstrate them in two simple (but nontrivial) models, and then give examples of real materials where they arise. I will then present results for a class of models where various aspects of the flat band system can be tuned one at a time in order to identify the features of these systems that help to enhance superconductivity which can be useful in designing materials. This talk is colloquium style and will be more descriptive than technical.\nReferences:\n“Pairing and superconductivity in quasi one-dimensional flat band systems: Creutz and sawtooth lattices”, Si Min Chan, Benoît Grémaud, George Batrouni, Phys. His research interest focus on on strongly correlated systems, superconductivity and superfluidity, exotic quantum phases and phase transitions.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
