Scientific activities with MajuLab
The Nano-Optics team at LPENS (https://www.lpens.ens.psl.eu/nano-optique/?lang=en) and more particularly Carole Diederichs has developed several collaborations with members of NTU and MajuLab:
- Qihua Xiong (NTU-SPMS), now in Tsinghua University (China).
- Prof. Timothy Liew, NTU-SPMS (http://web.spms.ntu.edu.sg/~tchliew/)
- Prof. Weibo Gao, NTU-SPMS (http://www1.spms.ntu.edu.sg/~weibogroup/index.html)
- Prof. Martial Duchamp, NTU-MSE (https://personal.ntu.edu.sg/mduchamp/index.htm), now in industry.
- Prof. Kedar Hippalgaonkar, NTU-MSE and A*STAR (https://dr.ntu.edu.sg/cris/rp/rp00405).
- Prof. Rui Su, NTU-SPMS (https://dr.ntu.edu.sg/cris/rp/rp01976)
The scientific activities in collaboration with NTU and MajuLab mainly focused on:
- The strong light-matter coupling regime in perovskite-based microcavities where polariton condensation has been demonstrated for the first time in these materials.
- The study of the fundamental electronic and optical properties of individual perovskite nanocrystals by steady-state and time-resolved micro-photoluminescence spectroscopy and photon correlation measurements.
Why and how this collaboration?
In 2015-2016, Carole Diederichs decided to diversify her research activity on quantum nano-emitters by focusing on the study of emerging materials for quantum photonics. It is in this context that she developed a project with Qihua Xiong who was a member of MajuLab at that time on the optical spectroscopy of perovskite materials for quantum photonics and polaritonics (also in collaboration with Timothy Liew and Rui Su). She joined his group for 3 years (2016-2019) as a Visiting Associate Professor at NTU and as a member of MajuLab. This international mobility project was supported by SU, NTU and MajuLab through CRCT and CNRS delegations. The study of perovskite nanocrystals is at the heart of the new activity that she has been developing at LPENS since her return in September 2019 in France, still in collaboration with NTU, within for example a Franco-Singaporean ANR-NRF project.
